Hypocrite

Assalam Alaikom,

Bear with me for I’m about to be melancholic and self righteous once more. Recently, I have been helping with a voluntary program to help educate kids who, due to their families hardship and lack of parental guidance, have either quit school entirely or are very far behind their curriculum that some of them actually can’t read despite being in fifth grade or even higher. I will spare you the narration of their hardships and miserable conditions for that isn’t my purpose of the article. It is enough for me to remind you of how many young kids in the world who, without any helping hand and in the same conditions they are in now, will grow up to be that homeless man sitting on the side walk asking people for money by day and trying to find a warm spot under a pulp by night. There is so much misery in the world, is what I mean to say.

On the other hand there are men who build complete gardens, with flower beds, lawn and a waterfall fountain, in their ‘apartments’ only because they can. Men who buy two cars and change them annually or every two years. Men that play golf. I’m not trying to control how people spend their hard earned money or their unexplained fascination with wide spaces of grass, but I never understood their astonishing ability to forget or bury the misery they know full well to exist. Extravagances are all around us, and are even more obscene and suffocating to the destitute, but we choose to bury them down. Somehow, sometimes we forget we are but mere humans. We are moving vessels of waste that never stop producing more waste until they die. We eat, drink, fight, mate, puke, get sick, kill and , eventually, die, and the one thing we never fail to do is forget all that. How ?!. How do we forget that we are the most fowl, wretched creature on this earth ?!

And [mention, O Muhammad], when your Lord said to the angels, “Indeed, I will make upon the earth a successive authority.” They said, “Will You place upon it one who causes corruption therein and sheds blood, while we declare Your praise and sanctify You?” Allah said, “Indeed, I know that which you do not know.” – Surat Al Baqarah Verse 30

The above quote is from the Quran wherein the angels do not understand why would Allah create such as us.

That’s the world we live in and there is no changing it, I know that. There will always be the poor and the rich, the wretched and the good, the sinner and the virtuous, and the miserable and the joyful, I’m aware. Have I no right to despair after all that ?!

    1. I first read about it on your blog, very briefly, then someone posted an invitation to join it on Facebook so I applied. Thank you, it’s partly you, if not completely, that got me there.
I hate to disappoint you but I’m not entirely satisfied with Ensan. Do you ever feel they do unnecessary things sometimes ?!

      1. Thank you ! :)
about being unnecessary :) ..well it depends on the team ..and depends on you
Ensan got something ..it depends on every member in the team ..that we don’t follow instructions , we actually make them .
at the beginning they waste your time in weird meetings ..but after that you will know the slum you work in , your kids ..and you will know your way ..
If your team is not that good and not helping , you may just switch to other team =D

my team ‘s leader is my best friend now =D , our team puts the plan together , so if it is unnecessary , it is because we failed to plan well ..so we go back and re-plan ;) :D ..
yet I am always annoyed by how most of the team consider this as CHARITY ..so when they have exams , they disappear ..when it’s hot ..like yesterday , one of them disappeared ..
I wish my team got more hard working people XD
but soon in Shaa Allah , waiting the season 7 new people =D

  2. You’re not really despairing if you’re doing something about it, the path of despair is simply ugly, useless and bitter.

I admire what you’re doing and hope to be like that one day.

    1. If at a certain point you attribute a factor that is too little to a zero, or one that is too large to infinity, whatever I do is nothing in a bigger picture. No, in this picture. But notwithstanding our different opinions on the matter, the littleness of what I do isn’t what despairs me. The littleness of me is what does. The constant remembrance of others in need, hurt, and destitute while I’m not, because of reasons beyond my comprehension that made me me not them. The constant forgetfulness of the same people is another source of agony altogether.

      1. Using mathematics to make a point, oh, that is very pleasing.

God did not fairly distribute sustenance, some are born in poor families, others in rich ones, some are born sick/handicapped, some are born in happy families, some are born as orphans, some are born with intelligence….do you see why?

Assuming we can get over all that is mentioned above, what about natural disasters? what about evil like rape/murder/burglary? Do you think these things would be gone if we cured what is up there?

My dear friend, we were created in different lives to help one another and hence, be compassionate with one another. For the intelligent to develop Earth and help the less intelligent, for the healthy to work harder to help the sick/handicapped, for the happy to cheer the sad ones or to help them resolve the source of their misery, for the ones with families to adopt the orphans, for the ones in luxury to help the ones who were hit by natural disasters….

The point is not “why me?” or “why you?” it is “it could’ve been me instead of you” and “what can I do to help you?”

      1. I apologize for the late reply, I have been busy all week and this is the first I’ve logged in. It’s difficult summing what drove me to write that article with a seemingly unrelated title. In a nutshell, I was confronted by a world, although known and felt to me, yet never actually seen and interacted with, about the same time I was a witness to others spending money like urine .. Happier when it’s gone.
What you said, though elaborate and thoughtful, wasn’t contradictory to the point I wished to make. It’s actually what drove me to write instead of, perhaps, yell incoherent curses or weep to my pillow. The fact that I can’t see why, fills me with questions and doubts and makes believing in the justness of it all that much harder.
I apologize if I’m brief, but I’m on a mobile phone and you know how much I hate those.
Thank you for the Quran verses, they were an excellent choice. The last especially

      2. Sustenance is NOT distributed fairly in the sense of equality, people’s will-power is a part of sustenance, people’s religion/beliefs is a part of sustenance etc.

Again, the question is not why someone was given a seemingly harder life or poorer mind or worse health….we can not comprehend the answer or even the question itself, that’s why we are not gods…

If you try to comprehend or even find the answer you shall fail miserably….it is simply beyond our human minds….I could give you a few answers of my own: everything depends on another, a person could become religious because of an unreligious man, a thief could stop thievry upon witnessing a more evil action….along with a bunch of known facts like “good can not exist without evil” and “this life is a test” and “this is life on Earth not paradise” etc. etc. but even all these answers won’t seem enough because it is 1) Destiny placed by Allah 2) A decision Allah has placed “as a God”…as humans, we may never comprehend the answer

So going back to the original issue….is it fair? sustenance has not been distributed equally, but is it fair? What I do know is that Allah is fair and Just and we are not….so why did Allah create us unfair? Why did Allah allow us to be unfair to each other?….and the answer is in the last question: Why did Allah give us free will?

What about sicknesses? What about national disasters? What about accidents?
I don’t believe we can comprehend the lengths of those questions….what I do know is that unequal sustenance and the above “bad things” do create compassion in people to each other, they create a will to develop Earth, they create a will to take measures against them and work on curing them etc. but why in the first place…I simply do not know

  4. CreativityTalent, I apologize once again for the late reply, but it has been hectic this week. The unnecessary things I meant aren’t team specific, on the contrary, they are considered basic in all Ensan. An example of what I’m referring to, which I know will open a lengthy discussion, is the ‘entertainment’ department in every team. I find that it is a waste of time and resources. I had more than one argument over this matter, that I can almost write your reply for you, but being the good guy that I am, I will let you rest your own case. Yes, I’m that kind and that concieted.
I do not mean that I’m absolutely right, though. I am, but that’s not what I meant by the above statement.I hope I’m not too rude. I have a hard time determining how much rudeness is acceptable. I hope you don’t convince me though, because I’m planning to make a coup de tate, or however it’s spelled, which you are welcome to join if you happen to agree that that money should go to a better cause.

      1. One of the things I don’t like or don’t agree with in Ensan is the entertainment department (Tarfihi). Too much money and time spen with no actual gain.

      2. well if you mean their events and parties , yeah i told them before about that , i don’t love how they waste much on this . Yet , what i am sharing in Ensan , is my Energy , where i teach . far away from any entertainment ..yet i discovered recently that some entertainment ( around 10% ) help us know each other better , so we start new ideas , discuss them ..also getting new members in ;) :D
yet I am known in Ensan by that person who refuse to go for anything but her class =D

I would never give up on Ensan for this reason , as at the end my money , my effort ..everything goes to where i choose :)
